Charity Tyree Hale has been named the 2012 Covington High School Outstanding Alumni.
Hale was given the award Friday night during halftime festivities of Covington High School’s Homecoming game against Eastern Montgomery at Casey Field.
The award was presented by Brenda Clark, president of the Covington High School Alumni Association.
She is a 1999 graduate of Covington High School and a 2003 graduate of Bridgewater College. After earning her bachelor of science degree in health and exercise sciences, Hale then earned a master’s degree in kinesiology from James Madison University in 2005.
Hale returned to Covington High School in 2007, where she currently works as the school’s certified athletic trainer for all athletic programs at the high school. She begins her contracted year with football, volleyball and cross country and ends her year with track, softball and baseball. In the middle of the year, she is involved with girl’s basketball, boy’s basketball and wrestling.
She also volunteers her time to teach Sports Medicine I and Sports Medicine II at CHS. Hale took it upon herself to meet the standards required not only of a high school teacher but to give the class dual enrollment status, which allows her students to earn college credits while in high school.
She also assists as a co-sponsor for Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) and has served as chaperone, speech writer for competitions and report specialist for the organization.
Hale and her husband, Nathan, have two sons, Mason and Mattox.
Hale is the 47th recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award. Past recipients include:
