Bessie Helmintoller Stoneburner, 100, of St. Louis, Mo., died Friday, December 7, 2012 at her residence.
Born November, 18, 1912 in Hot Springs, she was the daughter of the late Peter C. Helmintoller Sr., and Georgia Snyder Helmintoller. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Stoneburner, in 1987.
Mrs. Stoneburner moved to Washington, D.C. in 1933, where she attended cosmetology school and operated her own hairstyling business. She met and married her husband, Alfred Stoneburner, and the couple lived in Alexandria until 1962 when they moved back to Hot Springs. They also lived in Covington for several years. She was co-owner, with her husband, of the House of Carpets in Clifton Forge for many years. Mrs. Stoneburner celebrated her 100th birthday this past November.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Siemer of St. Louis and her husband, Lyle; three nieces: Lynda Thompson of Covington; and Julie Helmintoller of Phoenix, Ariz.; Cynthia O’Donahue of Irvine, Calif.; and three nephews: P.C. Helmintoller, II, of Las Vegas, Nev.; Bob Helmintoller of Chicago, Ill., and William Helmintoller of Payson, Ariz.
A private memorial service and interment will be held at Mount Comfort Cemetery in Alexandria.
