LEXINGTON – The Alleghany cross country team ran in this past Saturday’s VMI Invitational.
Cimarron Nicely led the AHS boys with a 12th place finish. Nicely completed the 3.1-mile course in 17 minutes, five seconds.
Cole Bradley was 79th with a time of 19:18, while Evan Nicely was 84th with a time of 20:09.
Craig Walton (21:05) was 93rd, Tristen Elmore (22:35) was 95th, Austin McAllister (22:36) finished 96th and Jack Wright (22:42) was 97th.
Alleghany finished 13th as a team.
Blacksburg’s George Carter won the boy’s race with a time of 15:44, leading the Blacksburg boys to victory.
Alison Adkins was Alleghany’s lone varsity female competitor, finishing 67th with a time of 24:13.
Wiebke Brodersen competed in the JV girls race and finished with a time of 30:48.
Blacksburg’s Sarah Dorrell won the girl’s race with a time of 19:07 and the Blacksburg girls claimed the team title to complete the sweep.
Clifton Middle School had four runners compete in the middle school race.
Karliegh Thompson led the CMS runners with a time of 14:24, while Laura Farrar was 10 seconds behind her with a time of 14:34.
Carrigan Wright finished with a time of 14:39 and Clay Adkins rounded out the CMS competitors with a time of 20:20.
The Alleghany cross country team will be back in action Wednesday in a Blue Ridge District preview meet that will be held on the campus of Dabney S. Lancaster Community College at 5 p.m.
