Marva Sellers and Charlotte Hellkamp have achieved the status of Master Estheticians. Marva and Charlotte recently graduated from the Starkey School of Esthetics in Roanoke.
Marva is the owner of Elaine Mitchells and Day Spa, 209 Court Street in Covington.
The course requirements included an extensive 1,200 hours of study and training and the state of Virginia requires applicants to pass a state exam.
Charlotte obtained her education from Bluefield State University and has spent the past 20 years working as a registered nurse. Marva has owned the salon since 1988 and has seen a need to expand her services to include non-invasive corrective skincare. She said her title as a Master Esthetician allows the two to help clients “slow the aging process.”
Marva and Charlotte worked one-on-one in a two day workshop in Detroit, Mich., with a medical grade Master Esthetician. They also attended an Esthetics conference in Orlanda, Fla.
“As baby boomers have grown older, there has been a major trend in anti aging,” Marva said. “Boomers are searching for non-invasive corrective skin care techniques and for professional grade products that help promote healthier, younger looking skin. Elaine Mitchells is on the cutting edge for Esthetics. We offer corrective solutions to fine lines, skin discoloration, Rosacea, teenage and adult acne,” she explained.
Elaine Mitchells offers cuts, perms, color, manicures, pedicures and waxing. Spa services include professional facials, chemical peels, microdermabraision, LED light therapy, therapeutic massages, detoxification and spray-on tanning. Residents can call 962-6711 for a free skincare consultation.
