K.J. Moore racked up over 214 yards on the ground on 14 carries and scored four of Covington’s five touchdowns to lead the Cubs past the Alleghany East Copperheads, 34-6, in Monday’s B League Super Bowl at Alleghany High School.
Moore broke a scoreless tie in the second quarter with an 11-yard touchdown scamper and added two more TD runs of 40 and 90 yards in the quarter to give Covington a 20-0 lead at the half.
He scored his fourth touchdown of the night – a 16-yard run – in the third quarter to increase Covington’s lead to 27-0 after Dallan Givens PAT run.
De’Andre Heighter finally got the Copperheads on the board late in the third quarter with a seven-yard TD scamper.
Kent Bullock scored Covington’s final touchdown of the night in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard run.
Josh Roldan added 79 yards on seven carries for Covington, while Givens had 21 yards on three carries.
Shawn Spinner led Alleghany East on the ground with 26 yard on three carries, while Rick Lanahan had 12 yards on seven totes and Heighter had 10 yards on two carries.
The ‘A League’ Super Bowl will be held Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Alleghany High School.
The Alleghany West Titans and the Alleghany East Knights will play for the title.
