MILLBORO – Lucille B. Burns, 88, formerly of Millboro, died Monday, October 18, 2010 at the Golden Living Center, Shenandoah Valley in Buena Vista.
She was born May 18, 1922 in McClung, to the late Cyrus Samuel and Gertrude Karns Burns.
She was a homemaker throughout her life and a member of Woodland Church.
She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Claude William Burns Sr.; two grandsons, Noel Plecker and Wyatt Burns; and a son-in-law, Ronnie McMullen.
She is survived by three daughters, Claudia Terry and husband, Walter of Raphine, Elizabeth Stewart and husband, Larry of Craigsville, and Carolyn McMullen of Hot Springs; two sons, C. W. Burns Jr. and wife, Dreama of Millboro, and Sam Burns and wife, Karen of Rich Patch; nine grandchildren, Troy Meyerhoeffer and wife, Linda of New York, Sarah Plecker of Harrisonburg, Julie Dean and husband, Paul of Hot Springs, Mike McMullen and wife Jane, of West Virginia, William Lee Burns of Millboro, Suzanna Paxton and husband, Eric of Millboro, Chris Burns and wife Tara, of West Virginia, Sam Burns and wife, Vanessa of Staunton, and Heather Linstrom and husband Rob of Roanoke; 10 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 2 p.m. in Woodland Church, Millboro, with the Rev. David George officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and anytime at the home of Carolyn McMullen, 66 Ashwood Drive, Hot Springs.
