The Alleghany junior varsity softball team is now 5-0 on the year after three recent victories.
AHS 27, R.E. Lee 5:
The Mountaineers had 16 hits – six for extra bases – and scored at least three runs in every inning.
Samantha Wolfe was 4-for-5 for Alleghany, Courtney Gillespie had three hits, Elaina Fridley, Taylor Poague and Katie Rickett had two hits each and Kristen Tucker, Erin Osborne and Mauri Deeds had one each.
Casey Lofton went three innings in the circle, giving up four hits, striking out two and giving up one earned run.
Rickett didn’t allow an earned run and struck out five in two innings.
AHS 9, Robert E. Lee 7:
Poague delivered a two-out, bases loaded triple in the bottom of the fifth to give Alleghany the lead. Gillespie had three hits, Wolfe had two, while Fridley, Deeds, Rickett and Osborne had one each.
Lofton gave up three earned run in five innings, striking out five, while Rickett worked two innings without giving up an earned run.
AHS 22, Bath County 8:
Alleghany scored 12 runs in the top of the first and had 16 hits in the game.
Fridley, Osborne and Wolfe led the way with three hits each, Gillespie had two, while Deeds, Tucker, Poague, Morgan Nicely and Lauren Ouimette had one each.
Rickett, Courtney Via and Lofton all pitched for the Mountaineers, combining to record nine strikeouts.
