CLIFTON FORGE -Thursday evening Sept. 9, 13 Lions met at Scott Hill.
President Preston Reid presided, Rusty Smith led the Pledge and Glen Linthicum gave the evening prayer.
Dinner was prepared and served by Ella Lebleu assisted by Denise Feury and Mae Hughes.
Announcements included; the most recent Lion breakfast was very successful; the next breakfast will be Oct. 2, beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. The cost will be $5 per plate; the Fall conference will be Sept. 17, 18 and 19 at the Holiday Inn in Staunton.
The treasurer’s report was approved after transfer of funds between accounts by means of a motion and second. The secretary’s report was postponed until the next meeting.
Consideration of several projects for the membership to do to help raise funds for the Eye Glass and Hearing Community Service program were discussed at length with more study needed. The effort to establish a Lions Club in Covington is being pursued by zone chair Skip McMullan.
Members were urged by President Reid to brainstorm on ways to build the club and continue community service. The next meeting will be Sep. 23 at Scott Hill.
At the conclusion, Bill Colvin won the attendance prize and Janet Reid won the 50-50.
