Danny Warltiner was reappointed as chairman of the Covington School Board Thursday afternoon during the board’s annual re-organizational meeting.
Rick Fuhrman was reappointed as vice chairman and newly-appointed school board member Eddy Clemons attended his first meeting as a member of the board.
The board voted unanimously to correct an error in the salary and benefits plan for Superintendent Tom Long who was given a four-year contract Tuesday night to continue as the division’s top administrator.
Long’s annual compensation will be $92,500.
The board voted to appoint Rebecca Irvine as clerk and Darlene Lambert as deputy clerk.
Meeting dates and times will remain unchanged. The board meets the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the school board offices at 340 E. Walnut Street.
Warlitner and Ron Morrissette were reappointed to the Jackson River Technical Center Board. John Woodzell was also appointed to fill a JRTC board vacancy left by Cindy Bryant who did not seek reappointment to the school board.
Clemons, who succeeded Bryant on the school board, was appointed to the board of the Jackson River Governor’s School.
The board acted on one personnel issue and appointed Kevin Hall as volunteer football coach.
The board will reconvene August 2 at 6:30 p.m. to meet in closed session to conduct hearings for students seeking re-entry into the Covington school division after expulsion.
