HOT SPRINGS – The Bath County golf team edged Alleghany in a nine-hole match at the Lower Cascades Tuesday, 185-187.
“The golf course won today,” said Bath County golf coach Terry Bradley summing up Tuesday’s match.
Alleghany’s Lacy Broughman was the medalist on the evening with a 41, but it was not enough to lift the Mountaineers to victory.
Walker Ryder was one shot back of Broughman with a 42 to lead the Chargers to victory, while Alex Fry carded a 45. Ryan Scheider fired a 48 and Mason Ailstock rounded out the BC scoring with a 50.
Logan Bryant backed Broughman’s 41 with a 47, while Brian Bess fired a 49 and Ben Vess rounded out the AHS scoring with a 50.
“Both teams are capable of scoring much lower, but the Labor Day off, extremely hot conditions and really slick greens contributed to the inflated numbers,” added Bradley.
The Alleghany golf team is back in action today as they travel to Botetourt Country Club to take on James River at 4:30 p.m.
The Bath County golf team will be back in action next Thursday when they make the trip to the Alleghany Country Club to take on the Mountaineers.
