Maestro David Wiley and Friends will launch the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council’s 2010-11 season ticket sales Sunday, Sept. 12 at Westwinds Ranch in Indian Draft.
Wiley, at the keyboard, will be joined by a trio of professional musicians from the Roanoke Symphony. The special one-hour performance will present favorites such as a medley from Richard Rodgers “The Sound of Music,” and “The King and I” and other works from “Showboat” and “The Sting.”
The program will also feature the finale of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue,” and other popular favorites from Broadway and the Silver Screen.
Members of the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra joining Wiley for the performances are Julee Hickcox, flute; Al Wojtera, percussion and John Smith, double bass.
Those attending should bring blankets and lawn chairs for seating outside the Hirt Carriage House. The performance begins at 8 p. m.
Admission to the open air concert is $5.
