Covington Paperworkers Union Local 675 will vote on a new contract proposal from MeadWestvaco Wednesday.

The vote is scheduled at the Covington mill from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Ballots will be cast at the mill’s No. 1 and No. 2 gates.

CPU leaders presented the proposed contracts to the rank and file Sunday at Covington High School.

Only CPU members will be allowed to participate in Wednesday’s vote.

Approximately 900 hourly workers at the mill are currently working under terms of a contract that was negotiated by the United Steelworkers last year.

CPU rejected a contract proposal from the company in March. The vote was 377-16.
