Ribbon Cutting Held At Rivers And Ridges Outfitters

The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday afternoon at Rivers and Ridges Outfitters, located at 310 W. Main St. in Covington.

Rivers and Ridges offers kayak and canoe rentals, guided kayaking and canoeing trips, kayak instructions, boat sales and whitewater rafting trips on the New River.

The shop also offers apparel and accessories for camping, kayaking and hiking trips.

Rivers and Ridges is owned by Amanda Burns, a native of Alleghany County.

Her husband, Randall Burns, works as the executive guide. Randall is a professional kayak instructor, ACA certified swift water rescue first responder and instructor, and advanced wilderness and remote first aid medic with over 20 years of experience on local rivers and abroad.
