Larry Adams Persinger, 60, of 1919 York Ave, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 31, 1950 in Alleghany County, a son of Marie Wright Persinger Gaines of Covington and the late Joseph Adams Persinger.
He was employed as a mechanic for 27 years with Clemons Tire and Auto Center.
In addition to his father, Larry was preceded in death by a nephew, Dewayne Myers and grandparents, Zettia and Samuel Wright and Phoebe and Benjamin Persinger.
Surviving are his son, Larry A. Persinger Jr. and Kelly Freeman of Portsmouth; stepsons, William “Frankie” Nicely and his wife, Vanessa, and Kenneth Nicely, all of Covington; two sisters, Mary Christine Cole and Wayne Baker of Covington and Phyllis Sizemore and Gary Creasy of Selma; his stepfather, William H. Gaines, of Covington and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Arritt Funeral Home Chapel.
The interment will follow in Lone Star Cemetery.
Friends may pay their respects anytime at Arritt Funeral Home and the family will receive their friends Saturday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
