CLIFTON FORGE — Two sewing seminars will be hosted at Dabney S. Lan-caster Community College with renowned master tailor Eric W. Stiles on Monday, Nov. 4, on the DSLCC Clifton Forge campus.
Both seminars are being offered by the DSLCC non-credit program. Stiles is traveling from Chicago to Clifton Forge to make these two presentations.
“If you sew or design or alter or drape, and want to get better, these seminar presentations are just the ticket,” says Stiles, who owns and operates Eric W. Stiles Academy in Chicago.
Stiles is a former supervisor and head tailor and fitter for Giorgio Armani, Polo Ralph Lauren and many others. He has 35 years of professional experience.
The seminar, “How to Do Professional Fittings,” on both men and women’s garments, will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Room 424, Warren Hall.
Students will learn step-by-step instructions to do professional fittings. This seminar will cover a host of special techniques that are used by the top European and domestic skilled master designers.
“The fitter is responsible for the correct fit of the customer clothing that should enhance and complement the customer’s body,” said Stiles.
To register, contact the non-credit coordinator at (540) 863-2863 or email jclark@dslcc.edu.
The tuition fee is $40 per seminar.
Stiles will also offer his Sewing/Construction and Pattern Drafting classes later in 2014, as well as additional video seminar presentations.
