HOT SPRINGS — Over the weekend, Bath County got a first-hand look at the best volleyball two states has to offer.
Tuesday night in Charger Gym, they got a breather.
Jessie O’Conner, Mikayla Miller and Kendal Woodzell combined for 15 kills in a 25-5, 25-12, 25-14 wipeout of Highland County.
O’Conner’s eight kills led the way, Miller had four and Woodzell added three.
Allyson Cutlip chipped in with 11 aces, while Emily Black had 22 assists.
In the Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday at the Spectrum Sports Academy, the Chargers posted a 1-4 record against top-notch competition.
After splitting Friday matches, Bath lost to Lord Botetourt, Auburn and West Virginia power Parkersburg on Saturday.
“I thought we played well at the Spectrum,” said BCHS coach Martha Carter. “It was very good competition. It was good to judge where we are.”
Saturday’s results:
Lord Botetourt d. BCHS, 25-20, 25-10. Miller (three kills), O’Conner (two kills), Woodzell (two kills) and Black (10 assists).
Auburn d. BCHS, 25-15, 25-19. O’Conner (four kills) and Black (seven assists)
Parkersburg d. BCHS, 25-21, 25-19. O’Conner (seven kills), Miller (four kills), Whitney Shifflett (four kills) and Black (16 assists).
The Chargers (4-3, 12-8) visit Covington on Thursday.
