Robert Gene Smith, 59, of 316 Hickory Hill died Saturday, October 5, 2013, in LewisGale Hospital in Salem.
Mr. Smith was born February 11, 1954, in Covington a son of Bobby Smith of Covington and the late Betty Lair Smith.
He was a retired operator at the MeadWestvaco converting plant in Low Moor. He was a member of the Good News Fellowship Church.
Surviving in addition to his father are two daughters, Jennifer Smith Mundy and her husband, Chris, of Covington and Katie Smith of Salem; one grandson, Jayden Mundy, one grand daughter Kierston Mundy both of Covington; one brother, Chris Smith of Covington; one sister, Linda Higgins and her husband, Billy, of Covington, two nephews, Hunter Smith and Will Higgins, both of Covington, an ex-wife Mary Beth Moody of Covington, and his beloved dogs Molly and Aqua.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with Pastor Linda Kagarise officiating.
The family will receive their friends following the service at Arritt Funeral Home.
