MILLBORO — The Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce recently held its annual picnic for new residents at Douthat State Park.

The picnic is designed to welcome new educators and new residents to the area and to introduce them to chamber members and business leaders in the community.

Nineteen new residents and new educators in the Alleghany Highlands attended as special guests.

“The chamber would like to thank Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram for serving as the corporate sponsor for the luau.  We would like to also thank Charlie Conner, Kester Dingus and the staff at Douthat State Park for hosting a wonderful event this year,” said Teresa Hammond, executive director of the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce.
