EARLYSVILLE  —  The Alleghany cross country team participated in the Albemarle Invitational Saturday at Panorama Farms.

Gaige Kern was the top finisher with a 19th place clocking in a deep boys race, while Karleigh Thompson placed 41st in the girls competition.

State power Blacksburg captured both the team titles, with 29 schools competing.
Alleghany’s boys finished 24th, while the girls placed 26th.

The Mountaineers are scheduled to run today at Greenbrier East.
