There is no charge to list upcoming events, however, other than ongoing meetings, items are limited to no more than two weeks before the event. Church items are limited to benefits, dinners and yard or bake sales. Non-profit group yard and bake sales and family reunions and open houses are also published.

Monday, Nov. 18
Relay For Life Bake Sale: A bake sale to benefit Relay for Life will be held Monday, Nov. 18, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. The sale, sponsored by Christian for a Cure, will be held in the cafeteria entrance.   
Covington Woman’s Club: The Covington Woman’s Club will meet Monday, Nov. 18, at 7 p.m. at Granbery UMC.

Coin Club: The Covington Coin Club will meet Monday, Nov. 18, at Covington City Hall.

Fairview Community Center Dinner: The Fairview Community Center in Bath County will host a dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Dinners will be $5 each and consist of chili or brown beans with a grilled cheese sandwich, cornbread, dessert and drink.

Tuesday, Nov. 19
Community Dinner: Alleghany United Methodist Church will hold its annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner Nov. 19 at 6 p.m. at 5115 Kanawha Trail. A short program will be held prior to the meal.

Wednesday, Nov. 20
Retired Nurses: The Retired Nurses will meet for lunch at 1 p.m. at Cucci’s in Covington.

Thursday, Nov. 21
Iron Gate Senior Saints: Iron Gate Senior Saints will meet Thursday, Nov. 21, at Iron Gate Baptist Church. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m.

Saturday, Nov. 23
Dinner: The Callaghan Crusaders Youth Group will host a spaghetti dinner at Fletcher Chapel’s fellowship hall from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m., with pick up or delivery from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Call Lorie at 962-4452 or Dawn at 962-4045. Price is $7 for spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, dessert and drink, with proceeds going to sponsor a family for Christmas.

Bingo: There will be a money bingo, with specialty games, at the Millboro Fire House from 5:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., doors open at 5 p.m. Cost is 50 cents per card, per game, and $1 per card, per game, for specialty games. Food will be sold. Proceeds will benefit Christian Riley, of Millboro, who is undergoing chemotherapy for hodgkins lymphoma.

Pancakes: There will be a pancake breakfast at Covington’s Applbee’s from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m., $7 per ticket, that includes all you can eat pancakes, sausage, drink (coffee, tea, juice). Tickets are available at the Stonewall Service Station in Callaghan or at the door. Call Tiffany at 968-2509 for more information. Proceeds benefit Dee Dee Simpson.

Upcoming
Fairview Community Center: The Fairview Community Center will selld soup and sandwiches Nov. 25 with homemade potato, vegetable and chili, with grilled cheese sandwich, conrbread, drink and dessert.

Soup For The Season: Covington High School FBLA will hold Soup For The Season Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. in the CHS cafeteria. Entry is a $1 donation. The club is also accepting donations of canned goods to benefit the local food bank.

CWC: The Covington Woman’s Club Board of Directors will meet December 2 at 7 p.m. at Granbury UMC.

Retired Teachers: The Alleghany Retired Teachers Association will meet December 3 at 10:45 a.m. at Boys’ Home. Lunch will be served and the speaker will be Highlands Christmas Mother Teresa Hammond. Open to all retired school personnel from the Highlands. Reservations required. Call Becky Smith at 540-650-4929.
