CLIFTON?��FORGE?��- The Clifton Forge Police Department has released information concerning the annual Christmas parade which will be held in the town Friday at 7 p m.
The parade is sponsored by Clifton Forge Main Street Inc.
Main Street President Bill Altherholt said a special prize will be given for the float displaying the best use of recycled materials. Theme of this year’s parade is “Let’s Celebrate Green.”
Lineup for the parade will begin at 5:30 p. m. Marching units are requested to report to the Rose Street Parking Lot and will be staged in this area. The area will be closed to all vehicles except those that are support vehicles.
All floats will be staged on CSX property just west of the Terminal Building. All floats should enter the area through the entrance to the Fueling Station located across from Simmons’ Body Shop on West Ridgeway Street.
Horse entries may gather on the CSX property with floats and horse owners may park trailers on C Street between Main and Pine streets in order to have their trailers available at the end of the parade.
All motor vehicles, including fire, rescue, antique cars, pageant queens and others will stage on West Ridgeway Street facing east beginning at the intersection of W. Ridgeway and Roxbury streets.
The parade will begin at 7 p. m. and form at the intersection of Roxbury and West Ridgeway streets. The parade will travel east on Ridgeway and turn right onto Main Street and disband at the intersection of Main and D streets.
According to the Clifton Forge Police Department, parade participants may not throw candy or other items at parade spectators. Candy and other items must be handed to those viewing the parade.
Parking will be restricted along the entire parade route.
No vehicle will be permitted to park along the parade route after 5 p. m.
