Among attractions in the Highlands and adjoining  communities are the following:

 SMOKE ON THE MOUNTAIN: The Masonic Theatre Players Production will present “Smoke “Smoke on the Mountain” at the theater on Main Street in Clifton Forge tonight at 7 p. m. Tickets can be purchased at the box office: $7, adult, $5 seniors/miitary, $4 students and $5 family.

VETERAN’S CELEBRATION: The Alleghany Historical Society is having a fundraiser tonight at the depot on Maple Avenue in Covington beginning at 7 p.m. A 1940s style dance will be held with music played on a 1920s Victoria with the sounde of the big bands. There will displays of military items from World War I to the present. Cost is $15 per person or $20 per couple. Light refreshments.

ELEANOR: Loretta Swit of the popular M*A*S*H TV series will portray Eleanor Roosevelt in the one-woman play “Eleanor: Her Secret Journey” Wednesday at Covington High School’s Curfman Hall beginning at 7:30 p. m. The performance is sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Arts Council.

DRACULA:  Greenbrier Valley Theatre will present “Dracula: A Rock Opera” tonight at the theater on Washington Street in Lewisburg. Performance begins at 7:30 p. m. The performances will be repeated Nov. 14-16. For information call toll free: 866-888-1411.

 BATH COUNTY MUSEUM: The Bath County Historical Society’s museum in Warm Springs is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. The museum is located on Courthouse Hill. For information call 540-839-2543 or visit the website: www.bathcountyhistory.org.

DEPOT MUSEUM: The Alleghany Historical Society’s museum in the 1908 C&O passenger station on Maple Avenue in Covington is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 1 to 5 p. m., and Saturday and Sundays from 2-4 p. m. There is no admission charge.

GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY: The Alleghany Highlands Genealogical Society is open for research Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a. m. to 3 p. m. The society is located in the former Jeter-Watson school on Pine Street in Covington.
