The Women’s Network of MeadWestvaco in Covington recently helped repaint the interior of the Alleghany Humane Society building.
Co-ops and employees from the Covington mill and Carbon plant totaled 125 hours of volunteer work across seven days to complete the project. The walls were painted a cheery yellow, covering the original grey-blue color of the walls.
“The Women’s Network bought and donated all of the supplies used to paint the shelter,” said Sandi La Rene, Alleghany Humane Society shelter manager.
“Before the Women’s Net-work came to paint, the shelter was very dreary and drab, but now it’s warm and welcoming. It welcomes people in to adopt a cat or dog into a forever home.”
Sandi also mentioned that the AHS has received many compliments from the public on the new paint job.
The Humane Society is very thankful for MWV’s support and volunteers. There are many ways to help the Humane Society. You can volunteer at the shelter, foster an animal, donate supplies, walk dogs, play with cats, adopt an animal, do paperwork, or assist with spay/neuter transports.
