MeadWestvaco’s Covington mill has announced its annual Christmas card contest and ad design winners.
Amy Kern is the winner of the mill’s Christmas card competition for 2013, while the artwork of Olivia Ytterberg, Monica Wood and Julie Mendoza will appear in this year’s MWV holiday greetings newspaper ads.
Their artwork was chosen from the entries in this year’s annual Christmas card competition, which is sponsored by the Alleghany Highlands Arts and Crafts Center in Clifton Forge and MeadWestvaco.
One of the ads appears on Page B-1 of today’s newspaper, while the remaining two will appear in Tuesday’s Holiday Greetings section of the Virginian Review.
Kern’s acrylic painting illustrates a log truck with MWV mud flaps on a snow-lined street with a Happy Holidays banner hanging across the roadway.
Her winning artwork was one of 19 entries in this year’s annual competition.
Kern received a monetary award for winning the contest, and her photograph is featured on the mill’s 2013 Christmas card that has been mailed to all employees and retirees, as well as business and community leaders, throughout the U.S. and abroad.
