Built in Roanoke in 1950, the Class J No. 611 remains a proud symbol of our railroad legacy. In celebration of its 75th anniversary, I had the privilege of presenting a Congressional Record plaque to Mendy Flynn at the Virginia Museum of Transportation.

Dear Editor,

On behalf of the Administration of Justice Club at Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, I wish to express our deepest and sincere appreciation to all individuals and businesses who supported our club during the recent ADJ Club Cruise-In, conducted at Mallow Mall on Saturday, Oct. 18:

Tractor Supply Company, which donated the use of its parking lot and door prizes; Car Shop Inc. and Highlands Community Bank, for  contributing cash donations; Fisher Auto Parts, Kmart, Kroger, Arby’s, Burger King, Dave’s Auto, Alleghany Motors, Alleghany Dodge, Commonwealth Arms, Highland Computers, Advance Auto Parts, Covington Tire, Covington Farm and Fuel, Ntelos Retail Store and Ntelos Call Center, all of whom contributed prizes for the raffle.

This event could not have been conducted without the assistance of dedicated individuals who prepared for and worked this event, including Greg Perkins, who provided music and entertainment, Robert Floyd, Alleghany County Sheriff Kevin Hall and family, Katie and Matt Weese, Beth Ann Curry, Cody Lewis, Shaun Dujardin, Mariellen Booze, Christopher Andrews, and Jennifer Roberts.

Finally, we wish to thank all local car enthusiasts who displayed vehicles during this event as well as local residents who contributed monetary donations and purchased raffle tickets.

The ADJ Club earned nearly four hundred dollars during this event, which will be utilized to defray expenses of students who will participate in a field trip to the Southwest Virginia Forensic Science Laboratory and the Roanoke City and County Police Academy during spring semester, 2015. Without the assistance and support of the aforementioned, this event would not have been possible.

Sincerely,
Gary L. Boyer Sr.
