MONETA — In year one and two on Tara Uzzell’s watch, the Alleghany volleyball team posted seven wins each season.
Tuesday night, the 2014 Mountaineers scored win number eight.
La’Tisha Chambers had eight kills, six digs and a block, while Erin Osborne added six kills and five digs in a 25-17, 25-22, 25-9 Blue Ridge District win over Staunton River.
The victory lifted Alleghany to 2-4 in the BRD and 8-6 overall.
Taylor Nicely added three kills for the winners, while Sarah Loving had 16 assists.
The Mountaineers were three-set winners in the JV match.
Alleghany begins the second half of their district schedule Thursday at home against Rockbridge County.
