Former Covington resident Jeremy Botkins was sworn in August 18 as a District Court magistrate for Colorado’s 22nd Judicial District.
Botkins has been assigned the small claim, traffic infraction, juvenile delinquency and child support enforcement dockets.
He is an appointed member of the judicial district’s Juvenile Services Planning Committee and also the Drug Offender Treatment Board. He serves as his local bar association’s representative on the Colorado Bar Association Board of Governors.
Botkins is a graduate of Alleghany High School and Emory and Henry College.
He received his juris doctor degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in 2007, and is admitted to practice law in Colorado and Virginia.
Prior to joining the Colorado Judicial Branch in 2009, Botkins served as a Deputy District Attorney in Cortez, Colo., where he continues to reside.
He is the son of Alan and Joyce Botkins of Covington.
