The Jackson River Garden Club held their October meeting at the Charles P. Jones Memorial Library.
The meeting was opened with President, Vivian Sutphin leading the members in reciting the collet.
Seven members were present along with two guests, Mr. Jim Oliver and Mr. Roger Baroody, who was guest speaker.
Baroody gave a program on the history of “The Children’s Forest,” located within the Washington National Park near Boiling Springs off of Ben’s Run Road. He also spoke on the native wild flowers of Virginia among other topics.
The following members received awards, Darlene Taylor received six blue and one red; Connie Oliver received five blue and one red; and Anne McMennamy received one red.
The meeting was adjourned when it was declared that no other business was pending.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held on Nov. 11, 2014.
Refreshments were provided by hostesses, Cynthia Baroody, Sharon Ferguson, and McMennamy.
