Camp Accovac To Hold Family Camp Weekend

MILLBORO — Camp Accovac in Bath County will hold Family Camp Weekend Oct. 10-12.

The theme will be “Get Rooted or Wilt,” and the speaker will be the Rev. Tom Rutan of Chesterfield, N.C.

The weekend will begin with a spaghetti dinner Friday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m., followed by and praise and worship service at 7:30 p.m.

Services will be held Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday will feature Bible classes for all ages at 10 a.m. and a worship service at 11 a.m. The weekend will conclude with a Sunday luncheon.

Saturday activities will include: a .22-caliber target shooting contest for ages 8 to 12 from 11 a.m. to noon; skeet shooting from 1 to 3 p.m.; golf chipping from 3 to 5 p.m.

Also on Saturday, from 1 to 4 p.m., there will be a silent auction. Other Saturday activities will include biking, fishing, bounce houses, pumpkin carving, and a campfire service. Persons planning to participate in mumpkin carving must provide their own pumpkins.

Fund-raising events planned for Saturday will be dedicated to the memory of the late Sonny Nicely and Clovis Vess. Donations of $5 and $10 will be accepted.

There will be no charge for Family Camp, but love offerings for Camp Accovac will be collected at each service.

Persons planning to attend Family Camp should call ahead due to limited space.

Camp Accovac, owned by the Advent Christian Church, is located at Routes 42 and 39 near Millboro.

The camp is available to rent for church retreats, family reunions and weddings.
