Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Dunaway, of Covington, announce the marriage of their daughter, Danielle, to Francesco Lombardo, son of Umberto and Gay Lombardo of Roanoke.
The ceremony was on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2014, at the Sheraton Roanoke Hotel and Conference Center.
The Rev. Roy Turpin of Pleasant Valley Church of the Bretheren, of Floyd, officiated the ceremony.
Decorations included a black raised platform, white fabric backdrop, white covered chairs, red roses, a sign honoring the memory of loved ones, and rose petals for the bride’s path.
Danielle was given away by her parents.
The two selections chosen were, “Samskeyti,” by Sigur Ros and, “Control,” by Mutemath.
The bride wore a David’s Bridal gown with an ivory sweetheart neckline, buttons going along the back, capped sleeves, side drapes, red suade rocket dog flats, and a fingertip length vail. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white hydrangeas, with the stems wrapped in black ribbon with white pearl pins.
The groom wore a black suit, with a black vest, white shirt, red tie, and a white rose boutonniere.
The matron of honor what the bride’s sister, Holly Stayton. Stayton wore a floor length, strapless, black satin dress with diamond accents on the hip along with the other attendants. The flower girl was the bride’s niece, Taylor Stayton. She wore a ruby red ankle length satin dress with fabric flowers around the waist.
The best man was Cory Wilkie, Lombardo’s best friend. The bride’s brother-in-law, David Stayton served as usher.
The reception took place in the Sheraton’s Botany Ballroom.
After the wedding, the newlyweds went to the Great Smoky Mountains, Tennessee.
Dunaway is a 2003 graduate of Alleghany High School, 2005 graduate of DSLCC, and a 2007 graduate of Virginia Tech.
She is employed at Vistar Eye Center.
Lombardo is a 2004 graduate of Roanoke Catholic School and a 2008 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Roanoke College.
He is employed at Brandon Oaks Retirement Community.
The couple make Roanoke their residence.
