CPA Bill Withrow has merged his Covington office with a Roanoke firm.

His office on West Locust Street is now part of Budd CPA.

The merger took effect earlier this month.

“I am really excited that we are now merged with this firm. These are some good folks. I will still be here at the office working,  along with my wife, Gwen. I’ll just be cutting back on my workload a little bit due to health,” Withrow said Wednesday.

He has has maintained an accounting office in Covington since 1986. A 1976 graduate of Virginia Tech, Withrow worked in Richmond before returning to Covington to open his own office.

Founded by J. Patrick Budd, Budd CPA is based on South Jefferson Street in Roanoke.

Budd is the firm’s specialist in tax, trusts and estates, litigation support and business valuation.  He also specializes in computer and financial software selection, installation and training, accounting, auditing, and taxation of retailers, wholesalers, restaurants, franchise operators, manufacturers and non-profit organizations.

His son, John P. Budd Jr., is the firm’s specialist in producing financial reports and is also a certified Quickbooks advisor with extensive experience in setting up and assisting companies with Quickbooks applications.

Patrick Budd said the merger with Withrow is a natural for his firm becaus they already share some common clients in the Bath County area.

“Whereas Bill Withrow’s work has been predominately tax oriented, we will be expanding the level of services here through computer automation and online accounting,” Patrick Budd said.

Budd CPA also operates offices in Salem and at Smith Mountain Lake.
