Joyce Rose Wade Shifflet, 77, wife of Henry Donald Shifflett, Sr. of Millboro Springs, Virginia passed from this life to her eternal home on January 24, 2015 at Augusta Nursing and Rehab, Fishersville, VA.
She was a retired bus driver for Bath County School System.
She was born October 19, 1937 in Millboro Springs, Virginia, the daughter of the late Stanley Richardson Sr. and Clara Margaret (McKee) Wade.
She attended Millboro High School, graduating in 1956.
Henry and Joyce were also married in 1956.
She was a lifelong active member of Calvary Baptist Church, Millboro Springs, VA. She played the piano and organ for many years. She was one of the few that could play the old Putman pump organ.
She was a past member of the Order of The Eastern Star, and had served as Worthy Matron.
She enjoyed keeping her grandchildren in the summertime, and kept her granddaughter Heather so she could complete her school year at Millboro.
In addition to her husband she is survived by her children, Henry “Skip” Jr. of Augusta Springs, Cherel Blazer of Great Mills, MD, and Norman of Leonardstown, MD; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; brother Stanley R. Jr. and wife Charlotte of Luray; sister in law Betty Wade of Fishersville.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Billy Wade, and her granddaughter Heather Marie Shifflett.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastors Stanley Wade Jr. and Darren Wheatley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at Millboro Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Millboro Area Rescue Squad.
