Roy Vines Dollman, age 89, of 366 Roxbury Street, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Emeritus Nursing Home in Salem.
He was born December 21, 1925 in Springwood, Virginia to the late Oscar Roy Dollman and Margaret Lee Jones Dollman.
He served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946, and in the United States Air Force from 1947 to 1951, having served during both World War II and the Korean War.
He was a retired Yard Conductor for the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was also a member of the NRA and an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Roxie Mason Dollman, and two sisters, Joyce Jordan and Dottie Hostetter Graybill.
He is survived by five sisters, Thelma Broughman and husband Gene of Lexington, Betty Martin of Staunton, Sue Spiker of North Carolina, Barbara Turner of North Carolina and Rebecca Knick of Buena Vista; and special friends, Basil Sampson and Mary Kay Nichols.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with President Bruce Crawford officiating.
Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park, Low Moor.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by members of Curtis A. Smith VFW Post 1033.
Pallbearers will be Justin Reid Talbott, Justin Tyler Beck, T. L. Beck, Matthew Trussell, George Jenkins and Bernard West.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 PM until time of service at Nicely Funeral Home.
