DALEVILLE — Alleghany scored their fourth win of the young season here Friday night.
It was a huge one.
The Mountaineers held Lord Botetourt scoreless in overtime and posted a 42-39 Blue Ridge District victory.
“It’s a big win,” said All-eghany coach Danny Keene. “Anytime you beat Botetourt you’ve earned it.”
Elaina Fridley hit two free throws and La’Tisha Chambers made one for the only points in the extra four minutes.
Mauri Deeds nailed three 3-balls on the way to a game-high 12 points and Fridley, who played the entire 36 minutes, had 11 for the Mountaineers.
“We did a lot better job tonight taking care of the ball and running some clock,” said Keene.
Alleghany, 4-1 on the season, hosts Rockbridge County on Tuesday night.
Lord Botetourt jumped to a 29-4 halftime lead in the junior varsity game and held off Alleghany 56-39.
Allison Fox led Alleghany with 14 points and Kaleigh Entsminger added 10. Abby Newton had seven, Catherine Davis scored four, while Shantae Petty and Haley Hansford had two.
Maggie Quarles led Botetourt with a game-high 27 points.
