WARM SPRINGS — The Bath County Board of Supervisors has awarded a contract to Springsted Inc., a public sector advisor, to update the county’s personnel manual and performance system and chosen an Alexandria company to design an economic development plan for the county.
Springsted was chosen Tuesday night from three proposals to oversee personnel manual updates. Super-visors also directed County Administrator Ashton Harrison to negotiate a contract with the firm that will not exceed $14,000.
The county’s personnel manual was last updated in 2004.
RKG Services was selected from 15 proposals to oversee development of the county’s economic development plan. The Alexandria firm was the unanimous recommendation of the Bath County Economic Develop-ment Authority board following a meeting last week.
“RKG is very into working with the public and relevant stakeholders in this pro-cess,” Harrison explained.
Supervisors directed Harrison to negotiate a contract with RKG that will not exceed $56,800.
“This will help us build a future for the county,” said Maggie Anderson, Bath County’s director of economic development.
Additionally Tuesday night, supervisors approved an agreement to continue Code Red services in the county that include several upgrades.
Those additions include subscriber alerts that offer information such as updated weather forecasts, and IPAWS (Integrated Public Alert and Warning System) alerts that apprise the public on conditions such as road or bridge closures or Amber Alerts.
Including the upgrades, the Code Red emergency alert system will cost the county $6,970 per year.
“It’s a nominal fee for something that could help a lot of people,” said Super-visor Bart Perdue, who also serves as the county’s emergency director.
