Lynda Blair Downs, 56, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at her home in Clifton Forge, VA.
Lynda was born in Clifton Forge on February 28, 1958, the eldest child of Eugene M. and Nancy Buston Downs.
She was predeceased by her parents; her paternal grandparents, Bertis and Hassie Downs; maternal grandparents, Harry and Craig Buston; an uncle, Bertis Downs III; and an aunt and uncle, Lucy and Louis Hunter.
She is survived by three siblings: Becky Downs (Ed Bordett), Jennie Corbin, and Gene Downs (Pete Wyman); nephews David Bordett, Mullen Corbin, Grayson Corbin, and Tucker Corbin; a niece, Ruth Blair Bordett; uncles and aunts Harry and Joan Buston, Ben and Sarah Lineberry, and Ann Downs. Others who have enriched her life include many loving cousins, caregivers, and friends.
Lynda instilled many good qualities in those who loved her. These include patience, kindness, compassion and the value of simple joys in life: the beauty of Christmas lights, the warmth of a campfire, a well-toasted marshmallow, a good SpongeBob Cartoon, and a little change in your pocket.
Lynda attended Good News Fellowship Church.
The family extends its thanks to the staff at Commonwealth Lifespan Services, Moody Center, and especially those who cared for her at Fairview House. Many thanks for the gift of friendship provided by Allison and Bonnie.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2015 in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Mr. Steven Buston officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
