CLIFTON FORGE — The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) has announced that Dabney S. Lancaster Community College nursing instructor Tina Hawley has been approved as a program evaluator.

ACEN currently has only 18 individuals in Virginia filling that role.

Program evaluators are important in the accreditation process. For many reasons, nursing programs volunteer to seek accreditation, which is important for public accountability and educational quality.

Hawley will serve on teams that visit programs and will play a key role in assessing effectiveness of the program, criteria, policies and procedures.

DSLCC President John Rainone stated that this is an outstanding accomplishment and added, “Ms. Hawley is to be commended. Only the most qualified individuals are approved to be evaluators of other programs. We are proud of this announcement and are so pleased to have her on our faculty here at DSLCC.”

Hawley began employment at the college in July 2013. She teaches Simu-lation and second year nursing courses in the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) Program.

She received her undergraduate degrees at Par-kersburg Community College and West Virginia University and graduate degree from Marshall University.

For more information about the DSLCC Nursing Program, call 863-2838.
