HOT SPRINGS — The Bath Community Hospital Board of Directors has accepted the resignation of Jason Paret from his position as chief executive officer.
The board unanimously accepted Paret’s resignation during a meeting Friday.
The resignation is contingent upon the finalization of a settlement agreement and dismissal of a $21.4 million lawsuit filed against the hospital by Dr. James Redington.
This process, the result of a successful mediation, is very near completion, according to David Troast, chairman of the Bath Community Hos-pital Board of Directors.
“Over the next several months we will conduct a search with a focus on continuity, stability and experienced commitment to care to identify a successor to lead Bath Community Hospital and serve our community,” Troast said in a statement released Friday afternoon.
The hospital recently announced to employees that Kathy Landreth has accepted the position of acting Chief Operating Officer (COO). She will be temporarily assuming the duties of CEO in her new role as acting COO while the search is conducted.
“Kathy has been instrumental in helping the hospital during a challenging period and we welcome her continued leadership,” Troast said.
“The board of directors initiated a review of its bylaws in the summer of 2014 and is committed to completing this process,” Troast added. “Additionally, the board will undergo its customary practice of reconstitution of membership and leadership at its next annual meeting in spring of 2015.
“Everyone at Bath Community Hospital is focused every day on our mission to deliver high-quality, compassionate and affordable care to the community and the region,” Troast concluded. “We appreciate the continued interest and understanding of the community as we move forward.”
