HOT SPRINGS — Riverheads sprinted to an 18-2 lead after one quarter and cruised to a 54-21 girls basketball win over Bath County Tuesday night.
Morgan Bond led a balanced Gladiator offense with 12 points, while Emma Casto and Blake Bartley had nine each.
The Chargers were paced by Kim Lindsay who scored six. Emily Black and Chloe Conners both had four each.
“The first quarter was tough, some of the girls still had the deer in the headlights look,” said Bath County coach Danny Sifford. “Since the first scrimmage we’ve improved. If we keep improving, hopefully by January we will be a little better prepared.”
Bath County (0-1) hosts Pocahontas County, W.Va. tonight and finishes a busy first week by visiting Fort Defiance on Friday.
It was all Riverheads in Tuesday’s JV contest.
The winners held the Chargers without a field goal for the entire game in posting a 34-2 win.
Kassedi Estes had the lone two points for Bath County.
