LEXINGTON — Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital has installed the Siemens MAMMOMAT Inspiration, which reduces patient exposure to radiation by up to 30 percent.
“One in eight women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime” said Susan Irvine, Imaging director at Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital. “That’s why we are so dedicated to screening patients.
“This new technology makes the screening pro-cess better for women having annual exams,” Irvine added.
The MAMMOMAT Inspiration offers uncompromised image quality and greater comfort to patients.
“So far our patients like the new technology,” said Irvine. “Our radiologists like it as well. The MAMMOMAT offers the best of both worlds — a lower dose of radiation, but the same high-quality pictures.”
The MAMMOMAT Inspiration was installed Jan. 15.
