James Howard Jackson, age 73, of White Sulphur Springs Center in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va., died Monday, December 30, 2013 at the nursing home.
He was born June 9, 1940 in Williamsburg, W.Va., to the late John and Vera Jackson Williams.
He was the retired owner of Jackson Janitorial Service and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of the Covington Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Jackson.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Poindexter Jackson of Bowre, Maryland; three sisters, Jennie Hatcher and husband Paul of Clifton Forge, Patsy Williams of Staunton and Glenda Jordan and husband Steve of Roanoke; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins; and a special friend, Edward Newson.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
