Harvey Eugene Stinespring, age 91, of 833 Lou Avenue, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Saturday, August 19, 2017 at his residence.

He was born in Brownsville, Pennsylvania on August 12, 1926, a son of the late William Parker and Mary Akers Stinespring.

He was the retired owner and operator of the Clifton Forge Cleaners and Harvey’s Carpet Care in Clifton Forge.

He was an active member of the Central United Methodist Church, a former member of Clifton Forge Lions Club and served his country in World War II in the United States Navy Pacific Theatre.

He loved woodworking, gardening and camping, but, most of all he loved being with his family.  Harvey was a “People Person”.
He is survived by two daughters, Susan Hutchison and husband John and Lana Paige Dotson, all of Clifton Forge; a son, Eddie Stinespring and wife Robbin of Clifton Forge; a sister, Katherine Dillon Armstrong of Covington; grandchildren, Chris Hutchison, Timmy Hutchison and wife Laura, Brad Dotson and wife Tracy, Katie Wrenn and husband Jonothan and Lauren Stinespring; special friends, Karen and Donnie Buzzard; and a number of nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his loving church family of Central United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Katherine Jeffries Stinespring in March of 2016; a son-in-law, John Dotson; and by two brothers, Preston Stinespring and Jack Stinespring.
A funeral service will be conducted Tuesday morning, August 22, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with Reverend Lynn Wright officiating.

Interment will follow in the Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

Pallbearers will be Dick Deaton, Ricky Shinault, David Speh, Donnie Buzzard, Mark Biggs, Skip McMullan, David Fury, and John Boone.

Members of the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033 Veterans of Foreign Wars will present military honors at the cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nicely Funeral Home.

The family suggest memorial tributes take the form of contributions to either Mountain Regional Hospice Volunteers, P.O. Box 637, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422 or to the Central United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 16, Clifton Forge, Va. 24422.
