MILLBORO — Samuel Allen Stinespring, 83, of 188 Wildcat School Road, Millboro, died Friday, May 26, 2017, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Salem.

He was born Oct. 17, 1933, in Bath County, to the late Kenneth Johnson Stinespring and Violet McCune Stinespring.

He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, and was retired from Plecker Contstruction in Staunton.

He attended Westminster Chapel in Bath County, and enjoyed hunting, gardening and NASCAR.

He was a loving father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Fay Kennedy Stinespring in January of 2008; two sisters, Revina Stinespring and Regina Grimm; and a brother Robert Stinespring.

He is survived by four daughters, Becky Liptrap and husband Ronnie, Bertha Robertson and husband Billy, and Connie Liptrap and husband David, all of Warm Springs and Tammy Stinespring of Millboro; three sons, Rocky Stinespring of Millboro, Mike Stinespring and wife Tammy of Millboro Springs and Randy Stinespring and wife Jennifer of Millboro; two sisters, Gloria Stinespring and husband Joe Hyler of Millboro and Jerry Lee Campbell and husband Frankie of Hot Springs; two brothers, Ira Stinespring and wife Helen of Scott Depot, W. Va. and Wiley Stinespring of Millboro; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and his dog, “Laker.”

A graveside funeral service will be held Monday, May 29, at 11 a.m. in Calvary Memorial Cemetery, Millboro, with Pastor Billy Robertson officiating.

Interment will follow.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, and other times at the residence, 188 Wildcat School Road, Millboro.

Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge is handling arrangements.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Calvary Memorial Cemetery Fund, C/O Bruce Wigglesworth, 10474 Deerfield Road, Millboro, Va. 24460.
