WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W. Va. — Harvey Washington Mentz Sr., 79, of White Sulphur Springs, W. Va., passed away Sunday, March 25, 2018, at LewisGale Hospital-Alleghany, Low Moor.
Born Dec. 8, 1938, at Glace, W. Va.
He was the son of the late Roy Telford Mentz Sr. and Edna Beatrice Bostic Mentz.
Harvey attended the Caldwell Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a logger.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Dowdy Mentz in 2005; a son, Harvey Washington Mentz Jr.; brothers, Robert, Roy Jr. and Henry Mentz; and sisters, Mary Nicely, June McAllister, Glenna Pauley and Martha and Louise Mentz.
Survivors include a son, George Mentz of White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.; daughters, Rodena (Roy) Belcher of Caldwell, W. Va. and Junelle (Shaffick) Khan of Cleveland, Tenn.
He has five grandchildren, Chris, Josh and Tyler Khan, Mikahla and Ashton Mentz; and a great-grandson, Jackson Mentz; along with several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will beheld at 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, at the Morgan Funeral Home, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, W. Va. 24901, with the Rev. Darrell Ramsey, the Rev. Michael Neel and the Rev. Donnie Dowdy officiating.
Burial will follow in the Dowdy Family Cemetery, Glace, W. Va.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 29, at the funeral home.
