Garland Wayne “Gary” Felty, 54, of 2902 Jackson River Road, died, Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Lewis Gale-Alleghany Hospital in Low Moor.
Mr. Felty was born August 13, 1963, in Roanoke a son of Virginia C. “Jenny” Felty, of Covington and the late Garland Preston “Pete” Felty. 

In addition to his Father, he was preceded in death by his Father-in-law, Matthew Walsh.
He had retired as an Activity Therapy Associate at the Eastern Shore Hospital Center.
He was an avid bass fisherman, loved to play cards, watch and play lacrosse, big fan of VA teams; the Washington Capitals, and the Dallas Cowboys, loved Lexington and the Civil War history, and was a food enthusiast.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of 24 years, Mary Jane Walsh Felty of Cambridge, MD, a daughter Sophia Felty of Cambridge, MD, a son Nicholas Felty of Fort Bragg, NC, a brother Terry Felty and wife Rebecca of Boston, MA, a half sister Anita Mitchem and husband Jim of Pulaski, a mother in law Rose Mary Walsh of Centerville, MD, a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins as well as his Facebook friends.
In keeping with Gary’s wishes his body has been cremated.
A memorial service will be held this evening at 5:00 PM at the Greenwood Evangelical Presbyterian Church at 626 E. Morris Hill Rd. Covington, VA 24426.
The family will receive their friends following the service.
The family suggests that memorial donation be made in Mr. Felty’s name to the Alleghany Humane Society at 9313 Rich Patch Rd. Covington, VA 24426.
