Garnett Basil Ratliff, Jr. (Buck) age 81 of Covington (Cherokee Forrest) passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Buck was born in Hinton, WV on August 8, 1936 a son of the late Garnett B., Sr. and Effie Fern Samples Ratliff.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Carolyn Ward Ratliff; and four brothers, Roger Dare, Billie Ray, Don Glen and Mark Allen Ratliff.
Buck retired from Hercules, Inc. with over 40 years of service and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. His kind and loving spirit will be missed by all.
He is survived by his wife, Nora Carolyn Ratliff; his children by his first wife, Aaron and Lisa Ratliff, Boones Mill, Chuck and Robyn Ratliff, Covington and Kim Morrow, Hiram, GA; his step-children whom he considered his own, Julie Howard, Bobby Lee and Noel Burrell, Mooresville, NC; his grandsons, Ryan Ratliff, Westley Ratliff, Bryan Ratliff and Micaiah Morrow, Ashton Howard, Karson Howard and Taylor Burrell; brothers, Bobbie Rex Ratliff (Jeanie), Union, WV, Jerry Ratliff (Jane), Covington, GA; sister, Nancy Carol Kast, Hinton, WV; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Billy, Lyle, Darrell and Mary Alice. He is also survived by other relatives and numerous friends including his church family.
Funeral services will be conducted from Temple Baptist Church, 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 with Pastors Bill Hartsfield and Bryan Ratliff officiating.

Interment will follow in Alleghany Memorial Park. His family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12 noon.
Pallbearers include, Raymond Thacker, David Bess, Curley Smith, Wayne Howard, Mike Bays, Wendell Rowland, Charlie Barton and Dennis Jones.
