Velma Nicely Harlow, 91, of Lynchburg, VA, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 2nd, 2018.                                                                  
She was born on July 24th, 1926 in Alleghany County, VA and graduated from Clifton Forge High School.  

As a teenager she worked in the local theaters and was known to provide free passes to family and friends.  She later was employed at the Central Virginia Training Center in Madison Heights, VA and retired after 20 years of service.
Velma was a devout Christian, loved music and previously was the pianist at her local church.  She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family.  She also enjoyed gardening and in particular caring for her flowers.  She was devoted to her large family and instilled strength, courage and Christian faith to her loved ones.
She was the loving wife to the late Halbert J. Harlow and preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Arlene Harlow. 

Velma is survived by a sister, Nancy Nicely, along with five sons, Gary, Tim (Leigh), Joe (Brenda), Jim (Tiffany) and Greg; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. 
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 6th, 2018 at the Central Advent Christian Church (Rock Church) Cemetery, located at 3515 Longdale Furnance Rd., Clifton Forge, Virginia 24422.  

The service will be officiated by Pastor Dwight Weaver of Langhorne Chapel, Evington, Virginia.  

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Langhorne Chapel Community Church at 15777 Leesville Rd., Evington, VA 24550.
