IRON GATE — Katherine Cornelia Kidd Taylor, 82, of 803 Commerce Avenue, Iron Gate, died Friday, Aug. 24, 2018, at her residence.

She was born May 5, 1936, in Iron Gate, to the late Jesse S. Kidd and Bessie L. Tyree Kidd.

She was a retired molder for Acadia Polymers and had previously worked at Mizzy, Inc.

She was a member of Iron Gate Advent Christian Church, where she served as a deaconess.

She enjoyed sending out cards to the Christian community in Iron Gate.

In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Randolph Taylor Sr. in 2007; two brothers, Eugene Kidd and Budd Kidd; and two sisters, Midge Hughes and Pat Mays.

She is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Smith and friend Dewey Perkins of Clifton Forge; her son, Paul R. Taylor Jr. and friend Ashlei Duckett of Louisiana; a sister, Elizabeth “Pete” Obenchain of Clifton Forge; a brother-in-law, Dick Taylor; three sisters-in-law, Betty Tolley, Joann Plott and Jackie Underwood; six grandchildren, Robert Nicely and wife Ashley, Neal Nicely, Trey Downey and wife Angel, Sheena Taylor Blake and husband Adam, Coty Taylor and Austin Taylor; five great-grandchildren, Unika Nicely, Jazmine Nicely, Haley Nicely, J. R. Nicely and Lily Downey; a number of nieces and nephews; and special friends, Brenda Nicely, Irma Sorrells, Betty Hipes, Blackie Payne, Becky Pendleton, and Joe Midkiff.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge with the Rev. Victor Nicely officiating.

Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Cemetery, Clifton Forge.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge.

The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to Iron Gate Advent Christian Church, P.O. Box 207, Iron Gate, Va. 24448.
