Adonis Ray (Rick, Ricky) Rickett, 65, of Roanoke, Va., went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 29, 2017.
Rick was born on May 4, 1952, in Covington, Va.

He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Mary Rickett; stepson, Martin Garinian II; parents, Edgar and Eileen Rickett; siblings, Carey (Robin) Rickett, Jann Lockhart (Kenny Lovelace), Jill (L.C.) Burks, Mark (Dawn) Rickett and Lori (Daniel) McCormick; and numerous relatives.
Rick was a member of Granbery Church in Covington, Va.

He graduated from Covington High School in 1970. He served in the United States Army from 1974 to 1976 during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany.

Rick then went to Dabney Lancaster and received his degree in Business Management.
He had a heart of gold. Rick had a very loving and gentle spirit. He loved to joke around and he could have passed as George Carlin’s twin. His laugh was contagious. Rick loved NASCAR and his favorite driver was #14. On most race days, he would end the race day with a reuben from The New York Deli where Rick and Mary had their first date. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, playing guitar, listening to music, and going to the beach. He fought several health issues and his two cats, Abby and Elise, helped comfort him.
Mary would like to thank Rick for all of his love and support. He was right, it was God who brought them together and she looks forward to the day God brings them back together.
Visitation will be conducted from noon until 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Oakey’s North Chapel on Peters Creek Road.

The Service will follow visitation on Saturday with Pastor Art Good from Emmanuel Wesleyan Church officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Cancer Society or to The American Heart Association in Rick’s honor.

Online condolences can be made at www.oakeys.com.
