Mrs. Betty Joyce Stinespring Wilkerson, age 85, of Clifton Forge, died Monday, February 19, 2018, at LewisGale Medical Center, Salem. She was the wife of the late Joseph William Wilkerson.
Mrs. Wilkerson was born December 26, 1932 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Harry Lee Stinespring, Sr. and Mary Hill Stinespring.
During her working career, she was employed as clerk at Dollar General as well as the former Barr-Topams Five and Dime Store. Betty was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wilkerson is survived by two sons, Joseph Lee Wilkerson and wife, Michele of Odenton, MD and James William Wilkerson and wife, Jennifer of Keysville, Virginia; a grandson, Ethan Wilkerson; step grandchildren; a brother, Robert Stinespring of Danville; and a sister-in-law, Annie Stinespring.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilkerson was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Stinespring, Jr. and Jake Stinespring, and two sisters, Zula Tingler and Virginia Alice Plogger.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, February 23, 2018 at Christ United Methodist Church with Pastor Deb Washer officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 P.M. 8:30 PM at Loving Funeral Home.
